Lot 176: A Collection of Cut Lead Crystal Table and Serving Ware including Decanters and a Footed Centrepiece
This collection of hand-cut lead crystal glassware comprises a variety of table and serving pieces. The lot includes two decanters with stoppers; one of tall slender form with a multi-faceted pointed stopper and one of bulbous form with a matching stopper. Also included is a large footed centrepiece bowl with a scalloped rim and extensive diamond cutting, and a large handled water pitcher with vertical and diamond motifs. The stemware features wine glasses, sherry or port glasses, and champagne coupes, alongside a group of tumblers in two different sizes. A small footed rose bowl or vase is also present. Most pieces exhibit sharp-edged hand-cutting in traditional patterns, including diamond-cut bands below fan-cut rims, criss-cross, and vertical wedge motifs. Several pieces bear white rectangular stickers with the printed numbers 14 14, while others have orange circular stickers with the handwritten number 176. One tumbler has a small white circular sticker with the handwritten number 7.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in generally good condition with high clarity and brilliance. No major cracks or large chips are visible. Some pieces may exhibit minor flea-bite nicks to the sharp edges of the cutting or base wear consistent with age and use. The interiors appear clean without significant cloudiness or glass sickness.
