A collection of vintage metal powder compacts by Stratton, England. The group includes a Queen-style scalloped-edge compact featuring intricate gold-toned floral and foliate scrollwork over a black enamelled ground, accented with small red, green, and blue details. Also included is a circular compact with a cream-toned ground decorated with gold-toned foliate patterns and coloured accents. The collection further contains a circular gold-toned compact with a fine engine-turned geometric pattern and a circular silver-toned compact featuring engine-turned linear decoration with a central oval ceramic cartouche depicting a pink rose. Each item is constructed from metal with various plated or enamelled finishes.
Condition report:
The compacts exhibit surface wear consistent with age and use. The silver-toned compact shows significant tarnishing and surface scratches. The gold-toned engine-turned compact has light surface scuffing. The enamelled examples appear to be in generally good condition, with minor loss to the coloured accents and light surface wear. Internal mirrors and powder sifters are present but their condition is unverified.
