A collection of two vintage evening bags dating from the mid-20th century. The first is a rectangular envelope-style clutch featuring heavy Zardozi-style hand embroidery on a cream textile base, likely silk or satin. The decoration consists of metallic gold-tone thread, faux pearls, and multi-coloured beads forming a central stylized floral and butterfly motif, surrounded by a repeating grid pattern of raised faux pearls and metallic threadwork. The second item is a mid-century frame bag featuring densely applied black and silver-tone micro-beads on a fabric carcass. The beads are arranged in a repeating geometric lozenge or diamond pattern. It is fitted with a textured silver-tone metal frame and a matching silver-tone curb-link chain handle.
Condition report:
The cream embroidered clutch exhibits significant yellowing, staining, and foxing, most notably along the right-hand edge and across the textile ground, consistent with age and storage. The black beaded bag appears to be in good vintage condition with the beadwork largely intact and showing no major areas of loss. The metal frame and chain display minimal wear.
