Buyer's Premium:

A trio of framed limited edition offset lithograph prints depicting the champion steeplechecker Desert Orchid. The first print, titled DESERT ORCHID – ‘The Winning Team’, is after an original watercolour by Paul Hart. It shows the horse in the winner’s enclosure surrounded by his connections. The lower right margin bears a pencil signature reading Paul Hart, and the lower left margin is numbered in pencil 1520/2500. The second print is The Official Portrait of Desert Orchid after an oil painting by Desmond Bree. This profile portrait features the horse with jockey Richard Dunwoody. The lower right margin bears two pencil signatures: a clear Desmond Bree and a second signature reading Richard Dunwoody. The lower left margin is numbered in pencil 333/475. The third print is titled PEARLYMAN and DESERT ORCHID after an oil painting by Maxine Cox, dated 1990 in the plate. It depicts the two horses jumping in unison. The lower right margin bears a pencil signature reading Maxine Cox, and the lower center margin is numbered in pencil 1549/2500. All three prints are housed in gold-toned wooden frames with decorative inner borders and cream-coloured mounts. A small orange adhesive price label reading 298 is visible on the glazing of the first print (photo 1).

Condition report:

The prints and frames are in good overall condition. All three prints show minor even toning to the paper consistent with age. There is no significant fading or foxing visible through the glazing. The gold-toned frames show some minor surface scuffs and light wear to the edges, particularly visible on the upper edge of the first frame (photo 1). The mounts appear clean and free from water staining.
