Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of approximately 60 to 70 vintage 78rpm shellac gramophone records, measuring 10 inches in diameter. The records are housed in a rustic wooden crate. The collection appears to focus on popular music, jazz, and dance band recordings from the mid-20th century. The visible record at the front of the stack features a dark blue paper label printed in gold, reading DECCA THE SUPREME RECORD and NO OTHER ONE-Fox-Trot (Wood-Clare-Akst) BOB CROSBY AND HIS ORCHESTRA (Vocal Chorus by Frank Tennille). The label also bears the catalogue number F. 5698 and the text FABRIQUÉ EN ANGLETERRE, identifying it as a British pressing. The records are contained within various period paper sleeves. One prominent sleeve is a brown paper sleeve printed with blue text reading PHILIPS PRESENT The Records of the Century A PRODUCT OF PHILIPS ELECTRICAL LTD., alongside a Philips logo. The collection includes a mix of branded company sleeves and generic plain paper covers.

Condition report:

The collection shows wear consistent with age and long-term storage (photo 1). The visible Decca shellac disc exhibits surface scuffs, light scratches, and a layer of dust and debris (photo 1). The Philips paper sleeve is in poor condition, with significant tearing at the edges, heavy creasing, and age-toning; it has been repaired with blue adhesive tape (photo 1). Other sleeves visible in the crate show fraying, acid-toning, and edge wear (photo 1). The wooden crate shows typical surface wear and splintering to the timber. The records have not been play-tested for audio quality or checked individually for cracks.
