Lot 87: An Assortment of Picture Frames, a Royal Albert Cheese Knife, and Glassware
A collection of household decorative items and tableware. The group includes a large rectangular silver-plated picture frame featuring an ornate scrolled and foliate border. The blue card insert is printed with the text SILVER PLATED HAND POLISHED & LACQUER COATED 8×10 and bears a white printed logo at the base consisting of the letters C, R, and O intertwined within a scrolled cartouche. A boxed cheese knife is present, featuring a white handle and a metal blade. The blade is etched with the words ROYAL ALBERT Bone China Stoke-on-Trent England. The knife is housed in a maroon presentation box with a clear plastic lid, which is printed in gold lettering with the same ROYAL ALBERT text. Also included is a small square-format silver-plated picture frame with an openwork foliate border, containing a paper insert reading For a 2 x 3 (5cm x 7.5cm) photograph and the number 73999. A rectangular polished wood frame with a natural orange-toned finish contains an insert for a 4 x 6 (10x15cm) photograph. A black-framed commemorative print titled BORN IN 1925 lists historical facts and costs from that year. The lot is completed by several stemmed glasses, comprising four clear glass examples and two with pink-tinted stems and bases.
Condition report:
The large silver-plated frame shows bright plating with scattered tarnished spots and surface scratches consistent with handling across the face (photo 1). The Royal Albert cheese knife appears in good, unused condition within its original retail packaging. The small square silver-plated frame exhibits significant tarnish, particularly within the recessed areas of the openwork border (photo 1). The wooden frame and the 1925 commemorative frame appear in good stable condition with no visible damage to the glass or surfaces. The glassware appears free from visible chips or cracks.
