Lot 74: A Pair of Silver Plated Pastry Forks in a Presentation Box
A pair of silver-toned metal pastry forks featuring a scrolled, fiddle-shaped handle terminal and stepped-shoulder detailing at the bolster. Each fork is constructed with a three-tine head, including a wide, notched outer tine designed for cutting. The forks are housed in a rectangular grey presentation box with a fitted foam insert. No maker’s marks, hallmarks, or assay stamps are visible on the upper surfaces of the forks or within the box interior. The reverse of the handles, where marks are traditionally placed, is not visible in the provided imagery. The surfaces exhibit dark oxidation and golden-brown tarnish consistent with silver-plated ware.
Condition report:
The forks are in fair condition and show signs of significant surface tarnish and oxidation across the tines and handles (photo 1). No physical damage, such as bent tines or deep pitting, is visible. The grey presentation box is in good, clean condition with no visible staining or structural damage to the exterior or the fitted interior.
