Lot 561: A 9 Carat Yellow Gold Oval Engraved Locket Pendant Birmingham 1995 Weight: 4.52g.
A 9 carat yellow gold locket pendant of oval form, featuring traditional decorative metalwork. The front of the locket is decorated with bright-cut engraved foliate and scroll motifs, set within a raised rope-twist border and a further textured outer rim. The reverse is polished plain gold and bears a vertical series of British hallmarks. The marks consist of the maker’s mark JAM in a rectangular cartouche, followed by a crown and the finality mark 375 for 9 carat gold, an anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office, and a stylized lowercase letter v representing the year 1995. An additional circular mark containing 375 is located to the right of the primary sequence. The pendant is constructed with a side hinge and is fitted with a fixed circular loop and a tapered bail.

Condition report:
The locket is in good used condition with surface wear consistent with age. There are fine surface scratches and minor scuffs across the polished reverse (photo 2). A small area of dark tarnish is visible on the reverse near the bail attachment (photo 2). The hinge appears intact, though the interior and closure mechanism are not pictured.
