Lot 54: An Assortment of Decorative Ceramic Figurines and a Commemorative Plate
A collection of decorative ceramic items including several figurines and a commemorative plate. The lot includes a neoclassical-style group titled See-Saw Lovers, crafted from matte-finished off-white bisque porcelain or resin and mounted on a polished wooden plinth. A small metal plaque on the front of the wooden base is engraved with the title See-Saw Lovers. Also included is a polychrome painted study of a bird in flight descending towards a cluster of yellow flowers, mounted on a circular wooden base. This study features blue, brown, and grey plumage with green leaves and yellow blossoms. The collection further includes a glazed ceramic mallard duck figurine in a resting pose, finished in blue, tan, and white glazes and mounted on an oval wooden base. A white adhesive label on the front of this base reads Mallard Duck By Michelangelo. A larger, high-gloss glazed white porcelain figurine depicts a standing goose or duck with an orange beak. Completing the lot is a commemorative porcelain plate for a 60th wedding anniversary. The rim is transfer-printed with the words Diamond Wedding Anniversary in blue script, interspersed with small pink hearts. The centre of the plate bears a personalised dedication reading To Nana & Grandad Congratulations Love from Janine & Kate above a pink heart motif. An orange adhesive price sticker reading 54 is attached to the wooden base of the bird study, and another orange sticker reading 34 is attached to the rim of the anniversary plate.
Condition report:
The bird study shows visible damage with a chip and loss of material to the tip of the left wing (photo 2). The See-Saw Lovers figurine appears intact, though there is an accumulation of surface dust in the textured crevices of the base (photo 3). The glazed mallard duck, the white goose figurine, and the anniversary plate appear to be in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs (photo 1).
