Lot 52: An Assortment of Luminarc and Other Cut and Pressed Glass Tableware

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of colorless pressed and cut glass tableware consisting of several distinct patterns. The assortment includes a set of tall tumblers featuring vertical panelled facets on the lower portion, tapering towards the base. Two of these tumblers bear small, gold-toned rectangular adhesive foil labels on their upper exterior, one of which is clearly legible as reading LUMINARC.

The collection also includes several stemmed wine or water goblets in two styles: one group featuring deep criss-cross diamond-cut patterns on the lower bowl set upon faceted stems, and another group featuring vertical panelled flutes on the bowl with stepped, multi-faceted stems. Additionally, the lot contains two pressed glass fruit or serving bowls, each decorated with a dense hobnail or bubble texture to the exterior and finished with a ruffled, crimped rim. The pieces exhibit a variety of manufacturing techniques, ranging from sharp-edged cut lead crystal to softer-edged machine-pressed glass. No other etched maker’s marks, signatures, or acid stamps are visible on the feet or bodies of the remaining pieces.

Condition report:

The glassware appears to be in generally good condition with no visible chips or cracks. The surfaces show minor wear consistent with domestic use and age. One goblet in the centre foreground appears to have a slightly different hue compared to the rest of the set, possibly due to a variation in the glass batch (photo 1). The Luminarc labels are partially lifting at the edges but remain attached (photo 1).
