A collection of vintage costume jewellery and presentation boxes. The lot includes a multi-strand necklace of teardrop-shaped faux pearls in a warm peach tone and a single strand of large, round, salmon-coloured beads. Also present are multiple strands of graduated white faux pearls and a multi-strand bib-style necklace constructed with natural white shell elements, red beads, and faceted clear glass beads.
The collection features several pairs of earrings. A pair of gold-tone openwork filigree drop earrings is housed in a white presentation box containing a black and gold adhesive label reading 22CT GOLD PLATED. A pair of large faux pearl cluster clip-on earrings is presented in a dark hinged box. Two pairs of stud earrings remain on their original retail cards; one card features a printed black script wordmark reading Napier, and the other is printed with the text GOLD PLATED SILVER. A pair of gold-tone and faux pearl button earrings is contained in a small black box with a card printed FASHION EARRINGS.
Additional items include a large white jewellery box with a satin lining featuring a gold-tone floral motif on the inner lid, and a smaller white rectangular box with the printed name Lindow’s. A small orange adhesive label reading 500 is attached to the side of one interior jewellery box. The collection is composed of base metals, faux pearls, glass, plastic, and natural shell.
Condition report:
The jewellery generally appears to be in good vintage condition. There is light surface wear and minor loss to the nacre finish on several faux pearl strands, particularly visible on the graduated white necklaces (photo 1). The multi-strand necklaces show some tangling. The internal satin lining of the large white jewellery box shows yellowing and light staining consistent with age (photo 1). The 22ct gold plated filigree earrings and the Napier studs appear to be in unused condition on their original presentation mounts.
