Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A Victorian mahogany breakfront wardrobe of three-door construction. The exterior is finished in highly figured flame mahogany veneers. The central section is slightly recessed, featuring an arched door set with a full-length mirror plate. The two flanking doors are composed of large flame mahogany panels with curved upper corners and moulded surrounds. The piece is fitted with turned wooden knobs and brass escutcheons. The interior is lined with a lighter-toned secondary timber, likely pine or cedar. The central compartment contains a single brass hanging rail running from front to back, supported by a wooden bracket. The wardrobe is built in sections, typically comprising a separate plinth base, the three upright cupboard sections, and a protruding cornice. No maker’s marks, labels, or signatures are visible on the interior or exterior surfaces.

Condition report:

The wardrobe shows general surface wear consistent with age and use. There is a visible loss to the mahogany veneer on the lower-left edge of the right-hand door panel (photo 1). The central mirror plate shows light peripheral foxing and spotting to the silvering (photo 1). The interior floor and back panels exhibit staining and dark marks (photo 2). There is a small circular indentation or mark on the interior back panel to the left of the hanging rail (photo 2). The polished finish shows minor scuffs and scratches throughout.
