Lot 47: An Assortment of English and Continental Porcelain and Bone China Tea and Tableware

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of porcelain and bone china tableware featuring various decorative styles and forms, presented in a bulk lot. The primary piece is a globular porcelain teapot decorated with a green-washed shoulder and lid, featuring hand-painted floral sprays in pink and mauve tones, finished with gilt highlights to the handle, spout, and finial. The lid includes a small circular firing hole near the finial.

The lot includes multiple tea cups and saucers of varying designs. One set features a pink ground with a transfer-printed floral spray within a white reserve. A white bone china teacup is decorated with a hand-painted floral bouquet and gilt rim. Two further cups are decorated in a rust-red and orange transfer-printed pattern in a floral Imari style. A larger porcelain cup or bowl features a green-cradled rim and floral interior decoration.

Additional items include a blue and white transfer-printed saucer with a central starburst motif, a stack of pink porcelain plates with gilt edges, and several miniature or dolls’ house cups in white and pink glazes. A small purple-glazed vessel with a fluted rim is also present.

The undersides of several pieces bear markings. A partial circular green printed mark is visible on the base of a white cup, though the text within is not legible. A deep blue saucer shows a gilt-rimmed base. The specific makers are not identified due to the illegibility of the marks and the lack of readable manufacturer names.

Condition report:

The items are in mixed condition consistent with age and use. Fading and wear to the gilt rims are visible on the pink floral cups and the white hand-painted cup (photo 1). Light surface scratching is evident on the glazed surfaces of the saucers and plates. The teapot lid has an intentional firing hole from manufacture (photo 1). No major chips or cracks are immediately visible from the top-down view, though minor fleabites to the rims of the smaller pieces may be present due to bulk storage.
