Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

An assortment of workshop hand tools constructed from forged steel, cast iron, and various hardwoods, primarily beech and ash. The lot features a hand brace with a dark-stained wooden head and handle, and a smaller hand drill with a metal body. Woodworking tools include a marking gauge with a wooden body and brass thumb screw, and a hand saw with an open-grip wooden handle. Metalworking equipment consists of a hacksaw with a metal frame and wooden handle, a ball-peen hammer, and a smaller metalworker’s hammer. The lot also includes a pair of red-painted cast metal corner or mitre clamps and a metal oil cup or basin. Various metal shafts and components are present throughout the crate. A yellow adhesive price sticker is attached to the rim of the red plastic crate reading 4.50. A white rectangular label on the rim reads 10 10. Characters are impressed into the wooden handle of the hand saw, but they are not legible as a specific name or mark.

Condition report:

The items are in as-found workshop condition with significant surface oxidation and rust across all metal components (photo 1). The wooden handles show heavy signs of use, including staining, scratches, and pitting. The hand saw handle exhibits small circular holes consistent with historic woodworm activity (photo 1). The red paint on the corner clamps is chipped in several areas. The mechanical operation of the hand brace and drill has not been tested.
