Lot 403: Vintage Corded Electric Hand Drill and Vertical Drill Press Stand
A vintage power tool assembly consisting of a corded electric hand drill mounted into a vertical drill stand. The drill features a plastic composite housing in a dual-tone teal and blue colour scheme. A red rectangular adhesive label on the side of the motor housing reads M42SB in silver characters. A small white adhesive sticker is present on the handle, but the characters are not legible. The drill is fitted with a standard keyed chuck and a white power cord terminated with a black UK three-pin plug. The drill press stand is constructed with a cast metal base featuring four mounting holes and integrated slots, a solid steel vertical column, and a metal operating lever with a black plastic handle. A small metal depth gauge with printed measurements is mounted to the head assembly.
Condition report:
The assembly shows signs of heavy use and age throughout. The vertical steel column and operating lever exhibit significant surface oxidation and rust (photo 1). The cast metal base and head assembly show areas of finish wear, grime, and minor surface corrosion (photo 1). The plastic drill housing is scuffed and marked from use. The power cord shows visible damage and fraying at the strain relief point where it enters the drill handle, exposing internal insulation (photo 1); this represents a significant electrical safety risk. The unit is sold as an untested collectible; a full electrical safety inspection by a qualified professional is required before any attempt is made to power the device.
