Lot 400: A Group of Decorative Items Including a Wooden Mantel Clock and a Cloisonne Vase
A collection of household and decorative items. The primary piece is a mantel clock with an arched wooden case featuring a curved top and block feet. The circular dial has a light-coloured chapter ring with Roman numeral hour markers and a railroad-style outer minute track, surrounding a wood-effect centre. The dial has two winding arbors and gold-toned metal hands. A brass winding key is taped to the side of the case. A globular cloisonne enamel vase is decorated with a dense floral pattern in shades of blue and green, set upon a carved dark wood stand. Also included are a cut-glass biscuit barrel with a faceted lid, two small dark glass bottles with gold-foiled corked tops, and a black ceramic vessel with a flared rim and gilt highlights. The ceramic vessel features a floral motif to the exterior. A white adhesive label with the number 7 is attached to the body of the cloisonne vase (photo 2) and another label with the number 7 is fixed to the side of the clock case (photo 1). The dial of the clock bears no readable maker name.
Condition report:
The clock case shows surface scuffing and minor scratches to the wood finish (photo 1). The metal bezel surrounding the clock dial exhibits some tarnishing and surface oxidation. The clock is sold as untested. The cloisonne vase appears free from cracks or major pitting to the enamel. The black ceramic vessel shows rubbing to the gilt trim on the rim (photo 2). The cut-glass barrel and bottles show minor surface dust and shelf wear consistent with age.
