A large wall mirror featuring a heavily decorated frame in the Rococo Revival style. The frame is finished in gilt and displays characteristic scrolling acanthus leaves, C-scrolls, and shell motifs, culminating in a prominent crest at the top and a matching apron at the base. The frame appears to be constructed of moulded resin or gesso over a wooden core, with deep relief throughout the ornamentation. The central mirror plate is shaped with a curved top to follow the inner contour of the frame and features a bevelled edge. Two orange circular adhesive labels are visible on the left side of the mirror glass, and a white rectangular adhesive inventory label is located below them; these appear to be temporary identification stickers. No maker’s marks, signatures, or manufacturer labels are visible on the front or sides of the piece.
Condition report:
The gilt finish on the frame remains bright, with some minor surface wear and darkening within the deep recesses of the scrollwork consistent with age (photo 1). The ornate decorative elements are largely intact with no visible major breaks or missing sections. The bevelled mirror plate is in good condition, showing a clear reflection across the majority of the surface with no visible scratches, foxing, or desilvering. A thin layer of surface dust is present. The backing of the mirror is not visible and its condition cannot be verified.
