Lot 253: A Wall Mounted Wooden Cuckoo Clock and a Swing Frame Dressing Table Mirror
A lot comprising a wall-mounted wooden cuckoo clock and a swing-frame dressing table mirror. The clock is constructed in a chalet style with a dark stained wood case featuring applied floral motifs in blue, yellow, and red, and a bird figure above the cuckoo door. The dark brown circular dial has white applied Roman numerals and scroll-style hands. It features a mechanical weight-driven movement, accompanied by two cast-metal pinecone-shaped weights and metal chains. The dressing table mirror consists of a rectangular glass plate held within a cream-painted wooden frame. The frame is suspended between two upright supports on a shaped base, allowing the mirror to swing. An orange adhesive label is present on the roof of the clock. No maker’s marks are visible on the dial or exterior of either item.
Condition report:
The cuckoo clock appears complete with weights and chains but is in a used and untested condition with visible surface dust throughout (photo 1). The dressing table mirror shows significant cosmetic wear to the painted finish, including multiple chips and scuffs to the base and the lower rail of the mirror frame (photo 1). The mirror plate is intact but exhibits surface grime (photo 1).
