Lot 241: A Pair of Elaborate Hanging Musical Carousel Displays
A pair of hanging carousel-themed displays featuring revolving mechanisms and musical functions. The display on the left features a circular wooden upper housing with a white and green lower canopy decorated with red and gold-tone scrollwork and medallions. It contains four carousel animals including horses and a zebra mounted on gold-tone poles. The display on the right is constructed with red velvet-like fabric trim, gold-tone filigree, and faceted faux gemstones in red, green, and clear settings. The upper section is decorated with gold-tone animal figures and braid, while the lower canopy features a red and white diamond-tartan pattern. The right-hand display is electronically powered; a white rectangular adhesive label on the upper rim reads AC 24V/450mA and FOR INDOOR USE ONLY. There are no legible manufacturer marks or signatures present on either item.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit significant and heavy dust accumulation across all surfaces, particularly visible on the red velvet and upper housing of the right-hand carousel and the wooden top of the left-hand carousel (photo 1). On the right-hand display, one carousel horse is detached from its lower mounting and hangs loosely from the pole (photo 1). The gold-tone trim and faux gemstones appear intact but require cleaning. The mechanical and electrical functions have not been tested.
