Lot 224: A Bulk Collection of Vintage Wooden Clothes Hangers and Shoe Trees
A large assortment of vintage garment care accessories constructed primarily from hardwoods including beech and oak. The collection includes various styles of hangers, featuring shaped coat hangers, standard shirt hangers, and designs incorporating horizontal wooden bars for trousers. The hangers are finished in natural tones, ranging from light honey to deeper oak stains. The lot also includes two wooden shoe trees: one finished in a dark brown stain and another in a light, natural wood tone. The metal hardware consists of curved hooks, some of which are integrated into the wooden frames.
Visible markings include a handwritten inscription in black ink on the shoulder of one light-toned hanger reading D D. Another hanger features a rectangular orange adhesive label reading 224. Several other hangers show faint, impressed markings on the central sections, but these are not legible as names or brands due to wear and the overlapping arrangement of the items.
Condition report:
The collection is in a mixed, used condition consistent with vintage utility items. Scratches, scuffs, and minor indentations are visible across the wooden surfaces of multiple hangers (photo 1). Several metal hooks show signs of surface oxidation and tarnishing (photo 1). Some hangers exhibit minor chipping and wear to the edges of the wooden frames and trouser bars (photo 1).
