A collection of clear and milk glass components for domestic lighting, including spherical shades and tubular chimneys. The lot features one large opaque white glass spherical shade with a wide opening and a ground rim, two clear glass spherical shades with flared rims, one clear glass spherical shade with vertical ribbed decoration, and a small clear globular shade. The assortment includes four clear glass chimney tubes of varying forms, including one with a stepped base designed for a Duplex burner and one elongated slender tube. The items are fashioned from blown and molded glass, consistent with late 19th or early 20th-century paraffin and oil lighting fixtures. There are characters in script appearing to be acid-etched or molded on the glass near the rims of the spherical shades, however, these markings are not legible as a name or specific manufacturer. A white rectangular adhesive label with a black border is present on the side of the box but is not part of the objects.
Condition report:
The collection is stored loose in a cardboard box and exhibits signs of age and use. Clouding and surface residue are visible on the clear glass components, most notably on the larger spherical shades (photo 1). Surface scratching and minor abrasions consistent with storage are present throughout. The ground rims show typical roughness and possible minor flea bites. No major cracks or significant structural losses are visible from the overview provided.
