Lot 173: A Trio of Royal Doulton Bunnykins Earthenware Nursery Ware
A trio of English earthenware nursery items from the Bunnykins range by Royal Doulton. The collection consists of a cereal bowl, a saucer, and a footed egg cup. Each piece features transfer-printed illustrations of anthropomorphic rabbits engaged in various domestic and outdoor activities, set within pastoral landscapes. The bowl and saucer are further decorated with a continuous border of running rabbits around the upper rims and edges. The earthenware body is finished in a creamy glaze.
The base of the bowl bears two distinct marks. One is a printed green circular mark featuring a crown above a lion, with the words ROYAL DOULTON and ENGLAND arranged around a central circular device; the name ALBION is also printed below. The second mark is a modern polychrome transfer logo depicting three rabbits holding a crest surmounted by a crown, with the word BUNNYKINS printed in capital letters below. There are also impressed characters that appear to read 3 and L. The egg cup features an orange adhesive price sticker reading 173.
Condition report:
The items appear to be in good used condition. The transfer-printed illustrations remain clear and vibrant across all three pieces (photo 1). The glaze is consistent with no visible signs of crazing or staining from the provided angles. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs visible on the bowl, saucer, or egg cup.
