Lot 154: Tom Dodson Signed Colour Print Ice Skating
A framed colour print on paper depicting a bustling winter scene with numerous figures ice skating and walking across a frozen pond, rendered in a naive figurative style. The composition features tall, bare trees in the foreground and background, with a small dog and a wooden fence visible in the lower right. The work is signed in the lower right corner in black ink as Tom Dodson and dated 1977. Directly above this hand-signature, the artist’s name Tom Dodson and the date 1977 are also printed within the image. The print is housed behind glass in a dark wood frame with a gilt inner slip and an off-white mount.
Condition report:
The print is in good stable condition with some visible toning to the paper, particularly a darker band along the edges where it meets the mount (photo 1). The frame shows light dust and minor shelf wear consistent with age. No tears, foxing, or moisture damage are visible through the glazing.
