Lot 122: An Assortment of Cut Crystal and Pressed Glass Tableware
A collection of cut crystal and pressed glass decorative and functional pieces. The group includes a large trumpet vase featuring deep-cut geometric patterns with vertical mitre and criss-cross cuts, and a modern flared vase in clear glass. This plain vase bears a silver-toned adhesive label on the upper body with the characters LISA legible. The stemware comprises a goblet with diamond and fan cut patterns on a faceted stem, a large wine glass with strawberry diamond and star cuts on a multi-knop stem, a small liqueur glass with a star-cut base, and an additional cut glass stemware piece. The serving pieces include a large shallow circular bowl decorated with a pinwheel and diamond pattern surrounding a central starburst, and a deeper circular bowl with traditional criss-cross and fan motifs. Beneath the deep bowl is a clear pressed glass circular serving plate featuring an embossed floral pattern. Also included is a small plain glass pitcher with a simple applied handle. The items exhibit characteristics of high lead content, including high brilliance and sharp mitre cuts.
Condition report:
The collection appears in good condition with high clarity and no visible clouding or glass sickness. The plain vase has a small mark of surface residue or a minor scratch on the body (photo 1). No large chips or cracks are visible on the rims or bases of the vessels, though minor flea bites consistent with use may be present on the sharp edges of the cut patterns.
