Lot 109: A Collection of J. & G. Meakin Studio Earthenware Tableware in the Solar Pattern
An English earthenware part dinner and coffee service in the Studio shape, featuring the transfer-printed Solar pattern. The decoration consists of stylized starburst motifs in teal, chartreuse, and blue on a white ground. The service includes a tall coffee pot with a light blue lid, a large rectangular serving platter, a large jug, several smaller jugs, dinner plates, side plates, flared rim bowls, stepped rim bowls, teacups, light blue saucers, and a pair of salt and pepper shakers. The base of the pieces features a printed black mark consisting of a stylized monogram of the letters S and T above the word STUDIO, followed by J.&G. MEAKIN and ENGLAND.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition. A rectangular serving platter displays prominent fine-line crazing to the glaze across the entire upper surface (photo 2). One teacup shows a small chip to the rim (photo 1). Several plates show minor surface scratches consistent with use. No other chips, cracks, or restorations are visible in the provided photographs.
