An assortment of decorative porcelain and fine china cabinet plates. The collection includes a limited edition plate from the On Gossamer Wings collection titled Monarch Butterflies by the artist Lena Liu. This piece is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity identifying it as plate number 8927G and bearing the hallmark of W. S. George, with a printed copyright date of 1987. The plate features floral and butterfly motifs in a soft painterly style and is fitted with a white-coated wire plate hanger. Also included is a souvenir plate featuring multi-coloured transfer-printed scenes of Niagara Falls, Canada. The central decoration includes depictions of The Canadian Horseshoe Falls Illuminated, the Floral Clock Queenston, and the Maid of the Mist Steamer, finished with a scalloped edge and a gilded rim. The group contains further plates, including one with a heavy gold-gilt filigree border on a white ground, and others with floral and figurative transfer designs. Several plates in the stack are fitted with white-coated wire hangers. Multiple orange adhesive labels reading 96 are applied directly to the decorative surfaces of several plates, and one plate bears a small white square adhesive label printed with the number 4.
Condition report:
The plates are presented in a stack (photo 1), which presents a risk of surface abrasions from contact. Several pieces have orange adhesive labels applied directly to the glazed surfaces, which may leave residue upon removal. At least four plates are fitted with white-coated wire hangers; these appear to be unpadded and may cause wear or small chips to the rims over time. No significant chips, cracks, or repairs are visible to the upper surfaces shown, though the undersides and rims are largely obscured and cannot be fully assessed. The gilding on the Niagara Falls souvenir plate appears largely intact.
