Lot 532: Mid-20th-Century Woven Fibre Storage Stool with Padded Seat
A mid-20th-century woven fibre storage stool or linen basket. The item features a square, box-form body with woven fibre panels, likely constructed from twisted paper reinforced with wire, set into a wooden frame. The frame incorporates two curved, integrated side handles and stands on four short, square block feet, all finished in light grey paint. Coordinating braided trim is applied to the edges of the woven panels. The stool is topped with a hinged, padded lid that functions as a seat, upholstered in a peach-coloured textured fabric. A small white and orange adhesive sticker is present on the top surface of one handle, featuring the handwritten digits 7 and 7. No manufacturer marks, labels, or stamps are visible.

The item shows signs of age and regular use. Significant paint chipping and loss are visible on the wooden handles and the top edges of the frame, revealing the underlying wood (photo 1).
