Lot 525: A Pair of Arts and Crafts Style Oak Ladderback Side Chairs
A pair of side chairs constructed from solid oak with a visible grain finish. The design follows an Arts and Crafts influence, featuring a ladder back with four horizontal arched slats. The frames are built with square-section tapered front legs and splayed rear legs, all connected by a series of stretchers. Each chair is fitted with a woven rush seat executed in a four-triangle envelope pattern. A small white rectangular adhesive label printed with the number 11 is applied to the frame of both chairs. A small orange circular sticker is present on the upper right back upright of one chair. These marks appear to be temporary inventory or lot labels and do not provide a maker name.
Condition report:
Both chairs show signs of age and regular use. The oak frames have various surface scratches, minor scuffs, and finish wear, especially concentrated on the legs and back uprights (photo 1). The rush seats appear to be in good structural order without significant sagging or large breaks in the weave, although light surface fraying and dust are visible (photo 1).
