Lot 518: Mid-20th-century pink woven fiber blanket box with upholstered lid
A mid-20th-century storage ottoman or blanket box of rectangular form, featuring a body of woven fiber finished in a faded pink colour. The chest has a hinged, padded lid upholstered in a pink and cream striped fabric decorated with a repeating floral sprig pattern, secured by a row of round metal upholstery studs. Decorative braided trim borders the top and bottom of the woven section, and a central metal swing handle is mounted to the front. The piece is raised on four short wooden cabriole-style legs. A small white circular adhesive label is applied to the right side of the lid, printed with the number 7. Positioned below this is a rectangular orange adhesive label with characters that are not clearly legible. No manufacturer name, stamp, or label is visible on the item.
Condition report:
The item is in fair to poor condition. Significant dark staining and apparent water damage are visible along the entire bottom edge of the woven body (photo 1). The upholstered top shows several large dark stains and general surface soiling (photo 1). All four wooden feet exhibit significant paint loss and chipping (photo 1).
