Lot 265: Wide-brimmed lavender sinamay formal occasion hat with white feather decoration
A ladies’ formal occasion hat constructed from lavender-coloured sinamay straw mesh. The design features a tall crown and a wide brim finished with a coordinating purple fabric edge binding. A matching lilac satin ribbon encircles the base of the crown. The hat is embellished with a large white feather arrangement consisting of a central downy pom-pom and several long, stripped white feather quills that extend outwards over the brim. Two handwritten adhesive labels are attached to the crown: one orange rectangular sticker reading 265 and one white irregularly shaped sticker reading 7. No designer or manufacturer labels are visible on the exterior of the item.
Condition report:
The sinamay mesh appears to be in good overall condition with no visible crushing or tears to the weave (photo 1). The white feather embellishments are intact, although the long quills show natural curvature. The lilac satin ribbon is currently loose and requires re-tying or securing to the crown. There is a potential for adhesive residue to remain on the mesh surface from the two price stickers.
