Lot 90: A collection of ceramic and glass tablewares including a Colony platter and floral tureen
A collection of ceramic and glass tablewares. The collection includes a large oval earthenware serving platter with a deep well, finished in a solid cream glaze. A black printed mark in an oval cartouche on the interior rim reads Colony. A white adhesive label reading 4 and an orange adhesive label reading 06 are attached to the interior of the platter. The collection also includes a circular earthenware covered serving dish featuring transfer-printed floral decoration in shades of pink, purple, and green on a cream ground. The matching lid features a central knob handle and an orange adhesive label reading 06. Also present is a collection of clear glass egg cups, each featuring a printed crown-style motif around the base in blue, orange, yellow, or green. The lot is completed by a collection of glazed ceramic and porcelain egg cups of varying designs. These include white porcelain examples with gilt rims, plain cream earthenware cups, and earthenware cups with single horizontal bands in lilac and mustard yellow. Adhesive labels are present on several of these pieces.
Condition report:
The items in this lot appear to be in good overall condition. The large platter and the floral covered dish show no visible chips, cracks, or significant surface wear. The glass egg cups appear free from visible damage or fading to the printed decoration. The ceramic egg cups show minor surface wear consistent with light use. Multiple adhesive labels are present across the items which will require careful removal (photo 1).
