Lot 71: A Cased Silver-Plated and Stainless Steel Flatware Service for Six
A composite cutlery service for six, presented in a brown textured faux-leatherette case with a cream fabric-lined interior. The service comprises table knives with cream-coloured synthetic handles and polished steel blades, table forks, dessert spoons, teaspoons, and serving spoons. The forks and spoons are formed in a plain rounded-end pattern and appear to be of silver-plated construction. The knife blades are etched with the word STAINLESS and a maker logo that is not legible as a name. A white adhesive label with the number 4 and an orange adhesive label are applied to the spoons. There are no other visible maker marks or hallmarks.
Condition report:
The silver-plated components exhibit significant surface tarnish throughout. One teaspoon appears to be missing from the allocated slot in the case. The synthetic knife handles show minor age-related discoloration but no visible cracks. The presentation case shows light staining to the lining and fraying to the fabric at the hinges. The exterior of the case is intact with minor shelf wear.
