AUGUST AUCTION

Lot 69: A Set of silver-toned teaspoons with bright-cut decoration in a fitted case

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A set of matching teaspoons featuring ovoid bowls and tapered handles. The handles are decorated with bright-cut engraved borders in a chevron or zigzag pattern. The spoons are presented in a fitted rectangular case with a textured burgundy-brown exterior. The interior is lined with olive green velvet featuring individual loops for each spoon, and a cream-coloured silk lid lining. An orange rectangular adhesive label printed with the number 69 is attached to the left side of the interior lining, alongside a smaller white square adhesive label printed with the number 4. No manufacturer’s name, hallmarks, or maker’s marks are readable on the visible surfaces of the spoons or the case. As the spoons are oriented face-up, the reverse of the handles where British hallmarks are typically located is not visible. The set may be solid sterling silver or electroplated nickel silver.

Condition report:

The spoons appear to be in good used condition with a bright, polished finish and minor surface scratches consistent with age and use (photo 1). The presentation case shows some signs of wear, including minor fraying to the silk lining near the hinge (photo 1). As no hallmarks are visible in the provided imagery, professional testing is recommended to confirm the precious metal content.
