Lot 629: An Assortment of Vintage Costume Jewellery Including Cameo Brooches
An assortment of vintage costume jewellery and accessories presented in a brown rectangular tray. The collection includes a large oval shell cameo brooch depicting a right-facing female profile in cream against a tan ground, surrounded by a gold-tone metal filigree wire border. A smaller oval brooch features a white molded profile against a red ground, set in an ornate scalloped gold-tone metal frame. The lot also contains a gold-tone metal bar brooch with a simple pin and C-clasp, a crescent moon brooch set with small clear stones, and a thin bar pin with blue and white enamel decoration. Additional items include a small gold-tone cross pendant with red accents, a plain gold-tone hoop, and miscellaneous metal components. A white adhesive paper label is applied to the interior corner of the tray, inscribed with the number 22 in black ink. No maker names are legible on the individual pieces; a small indentation is visible on the pin of the bar brooch but the characters are not readable.
Condition report:
The items show signs of wear consistent with age and use. There is visible tarnish, oxidation, and loss to the gold-tone plating on several pieces, notably the bar brooch and the frame of the smaller red cameo (photo 1). The shell cameo brooch appears to be in good structural condition. There is dirt and residue accumulation within the settings of the smaller ornate pieces (photo 1). General surface scratching and minor abrasions are evident throughout the lot due to loose storage.
