Lot 608: A Collection of World Coins and Banknotes, including UK, IT and IN
A collection of world banknotes and coinage including items from the UK, Italy, India, and China. The paper currency contains a Banca d Italia 1000 Lire note, serial number BC 965774 V, a Reserve Bank of India 1000 Rupee note, and a 1975 Chinese note. Cased items include a blue folder titled Britain s First Decimal Coins and Isle of Man one pound coins dated 1978 and 1979 in square plastic flips. A large silver-coloured commemorative crown is presented in a red velvet-lined case. The lot further includes two plastic bags of mixed coinage, one bearing a printed label reading MIXER COIN, a brown leather coin purse with an oval metal clasp, and various loose coins in copper-nickel and bronze alloys.
Condition report:
The banknotes show evidence of circulation with visible folds, creases, and edge wear (photo 1). The 1975 Chinese note exhibits heavy soiling and staining. The cased commemorative coins appear to be in good condition with no major visible impairments. Bulk coinage shows typical circulation wear, surface scratches, and minor oxidation. The leather purse has surface scuffs and minor wear to the metal components. The interior of the red presentation case displays some discolouration.
