A pair of vintage mid-20th-century vinyl play dolls. Each doll features a vinyl head, torso, and limbs with rooted synthetic hair and weighted sleep eye mechanisms. The first doll has rooted, wavy brownish-blonde hair and blue sleep eyes with painted lashes. It is dressed in a red cotton dress featuring white horizontal bands and white lace trim at the collar, sleeves, and hem. This doll is seated in a miniature wooden slatted folding chair. The second doll features rooted blonde hair and blue sleep eyes with attached lashes, and the face has an open mouth with two molded upper teeth. It is wearing a pink and white dress with a teddy bear print and white lace trim. This doll is seated in a dark-stained wood spindle-back chair. A white rectangular adhesive label printed with the numeral 7 is attached to the bodice of each dress. Orange adhesive price stickers reading 5.95 are applied to the vinyl legs of the dolls and the frame of the slatted chair. No manufacturer marks, brand names, or hallmarks are visible on the neck, back, or limbs in the provided images.
Condition report:
Both dolls show signs of general playwear consistent with age. There is visible surface grime on the faces and limbs, notably on the legs of the doll in the red dress (photo 1). The rooted hair on both dolls is unstyled and slightly matted (photos 1 and 2). The clothing appears vintage and shows minor fading and creasing (photos 1 and 2). Adhesive stickers are attached directly to the vinyl and fabric, which may result in residue upon removal. The wooden chairs show minor scuffing to the finish (photos 1 and 2).
