Lot 593: A Mid-Century Modern Woven Rattan Tub Armchair
A mid-century modern style tub armchair featuring a continuous hand-woven rattan body. The chair is constructed with a fine wicker weave over a concealed structural frame. The backrest incorporates a central decorative diamond-pattern woven motif created by varying the weave direction. It is supported by four cylindrical, light-toned solid wood dowel legs. A small, orange rectangular adhesive label is attached to the exterior lower left side of the backrest; the characters on this label are not legible at the provided resolution. No other maker marks or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The armchair is in good vintage condition. The woven rattan body is largely intact, showing natural surface wear and minor colour variations throughout consistent with age and use (photo 1). The wooden legs exhibit light scuffing and minor finish wear at the bases (photo 1). An adhesive label remains attached to the wicker surface on the backrest.
