Lot 531: Italian Style Decorative Round Side Table with Metal Tripod Base
An occasional side table featuring a round top with a simulated crackle-glaze finish. The decorative surface consists of a central band of geometric diamonds in red and blue, containing gilt-toned floral and interlocking ring motifs, flanked by borders of foliate scrolls on a blue ground. The outer border features a wave-scroll motif in blue and gold on a cream background, finished with a gilt-painted rim. The table is supported by a metal tripod base painted in a cream finish with gilt-toned accents. The legs feature scrolled feet and decorative scrollwork brackets supporting a central horizontal ring. A small orange rectangular adhesive label is adhered to the table surface, printed with the characters 531; no other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The crackle finish on the table top is a deliberate decorative effect rather than age-related damage. Minor rubbing and small chips are visible along the gilt-painted outer rim (photo 2). General surface wear and light scuffing consistent with age and use are present on both the top and the metal base (photo 1).
