Lot 529: A Victorian style mahogany waterfall open bookcase
A mahogany open bookcase of waterfall form, featuring three fixed shelves supported by shaped side panels that decrease in depth towards the top. The top gallery is embellished with a central carved motif depicting scrolling foliage and a central star. A single full-width drawer is located at the base, fitted with two circular brass pulls. The piece stands on a plain plinth base. An orange rectangular adhesive label reading 529 is attached to the exterior of the left side panel. No other marks, labels, or maker’s signatures are visible.
Condition report:
The item is in fair condition. There are significant areas of white bloom and clouding to the polished finish on the flat surfaces of the two lower shelves (photo 1). Surface scratches, minor scuffs, and small abrasions are present throughout the mahogany exterior (photo 1).
