Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This English country pine dresser base or sideboard dates from the late Victorian or early 20th-century period. The construction features a rectangular top surmounted by a shaped back gallery with a central scrolled pediment and two turned finials. The lower carcass is configured with three frieze drawers above a central stack of two further drawers, which are flanked by two single-panel cupboard doors. The entire piece is supported on a shaped plinth base with bracket feet. The drawers are fitted with cast brass swan-neck handles with decorative shaped backplates, and the cupboard doors feature brass turn-latch handles. A white circular adhesive label is attached to the top surface towards the left side, and a yellow circular adhesive label is attached to the front of the upper left drawer; the text on these labels is not legible. No other marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the exterior of the piece.

Condition report:

The piece is in a rustic, used condition consistent with its age and material (photo 1). The top surface exhibits significant staining, including a prominent circular ring mark near the centre (photo 1). There are scattered scuffs, scratches, and small indentations across the wood, particularly visible along the plinth and drawer edges (photo 1). Natural knots and grain irregularities are present throughout the pine. Minor gapping is observable around the cupboard doors and drawer fronts (photo 1). The finish shows general wear and appears to be a light wax or stripped wood surface.
