Lot 466: A Pair of Victorian Style Cast Iron Garden Chairs
A pair of circular-seated garden chairs constructed from cast iron. The design features high, rounded backrests with a central foliate frond motif surrounded by pierced scrollwork. The seats are circular with a radiating openwork design. The cabriole-style legs are decorated with corresponding foliate scrollwork. An orange circular adhesive label is located on the backrest of the upper chair. A white rectangular adhesive label printed with the number 7 is located on the backrest of the lower chair. No foundry marks, names, or model numbers are visible on the metalwork.
Standard garden chair height. Weight class: Heavy.
Condition report:
Both chairs are in heavily weathered, unrestored condition. The white paint finish is extensively chipped and flaked across all surfaces (photo 1). Significant surface oxidation and rust are visible, particularly concentrated on the seat panels and lower framing (photo 1). The items appear structurally complete.
