Lot 464: Mid-Century Modern Slatted Hardwood Two-Tier Drinks Trolley
A vintage two-tier drinks trolley constructed from slatted hardwood. The upper tier consists of a removable rectangular serving tray featuring integrated slot carry handles at either end. The lower tier is a fixed slatted shelf with an integrated three-section wooden bottle rack positioned at one end. The trolley is supported by an X-frame structure and features two large wooden rear wheels with circular apertures and a curved, full-width wooden push handle. The joinery includes dowel construction and visible metal screw fixings. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the object.
Condition report:
The trolley is in a weathered, as-found condition (photo 1). The hardwood surfaces exhibit silvering and fading consistent with prolonged outdoor exposure. Visible surface accumulation of dirt, dust, and cobwebs is present across all tiers and the frame. There are scattered minor scuffs and abrasions to the wood, particularly on the edges of the removable tray and the wheels. The wood appears dry and would require cleaning and oiling to restore the finish. No structural losses or missing slats are observed.
