Lot 460: A Folding Telescopic Metal Hand Truck
A manual folding hand truck, also known as a sack barrow, featuring a telescopic silver-tone metal frame and a black-finished stamped metal toe plate. The unit is designed for portability and storage, incorporating a folding mechanism with a wire-loop release that allows the toe plate to fold flush against the frame and the handles to retract. It is equipped with two solid black rubber tyres mounted on a single axle. The upper handle is finished with a black plastic grip for manual handling. There is an impressed mark located in the centre of the toe plate near the axle; the characters within this mark are not clearly legible and do not definitively identify a manufacturer. No specific load capacity ratings or safety certifications are readable on the frame or plate.
Condition report:
The hand truck exhibits visible signs of heavy use. The metal frame shows surface scratches and scuffing throughout (photo 1). The black-finished toe plate displays significant paint loss, heavy scuffing, and areas of superficial oxidation across the top surface (photo 1). There is a general accumulation of dust, dirt, and grime over the entire unit. Both solid rubber tyres show standard tread wear but remain intact and functional (photo 1). The telescopic and folding mechanisms appear to operate as intended without visible distortion to the frame.
