Lot 407: A Vintage Galvanised Steel Dolly Tub
A vintage galvanised steel dolly tub of cylindrical form, featuring characteristic horizontal corrugated ribbing for structural reinforcement. The vessel is constructed with a reinforced upper rim secured by a series of metal rivets. Originally designed for domestic laundry use, these vessels are frequently repurposed as garden planters. An orange rectangular adhesive label marked Lot 407 is adhered to the upper side, and a small white circular sticker bearing the numeral 7 is located below it. No maker marks, brand names, or stamps are visible on the exterior.
Condition report:
The tub shows significant signs of age and exposure consistent with outdoor use. There is widespread surface oxidation and rust, particularly concentrated along the raised corrugations and the riveted rim (photo 1). The upper rim displays minor misshaping and small dents. Residual organic matter, including a dried leaf and a clump of white fibrous material, is adhered to the exterior surface (photo 1).
