Lot 33: Two Pairs of Binoculars by Swift and Sakura with Cases
A collection of optical equipment featuring two pairs of binoculars and associated accessories. The first pair is a vintage set of binoculars of black metal construction. The left shoulder plate features a printed bird device above the name SWIFT and the words FULLY COATED. The right shoulder plate is printed with LO 30, at 1000yds, Model No 754, and No 4-669587. This pair is accompanied by a brown pebble-grained case featuring a silver-tone metal snap fastener and a small orange adhesive sticker reading 33. The second pair consists of modern zoom binoculars with a black rubberised finish. The prism housing features gold-toned printed characters reading SAKURA, 10X-70X70, Z-O-O-M, 384FT/1000YDS AT 10x, and 128M/1000M AT 10x. This set includes a black soft textile carrying case and an orange cardboard box printed with DAY AND NIGHT VISION SAKURA BINOCULARS. The box features a white adhesive label reading 7, a small orange adhesive label reading 33, and the characters 50 x 50 handwritten in red ink.
Condition report:
The Swift binoculars show minor paint loss and surface wear to the metal edges of the shoulder plates (photo 1). The accompanying brown case exhibits extensive peeling, cracking, and fraying to the synthetic pebble-grain covering, particularly at the lid edges and hinge (photo 1). The Sakura binoculars show visible surface dust but otherwise appear to be in good order. The Sakura cardboard box shows significant crushing, creasing, and edge wear throughout (photo 1).
