Lot 296: Two Wicker Baskets with High Arched Handles
Two wicker baskets of different styles and sizes. The larger basket is oval in shape with a dense, fine weave and features a high arched handle decorated with red and white gingham fabric ribbons tied at the handle terminals. The smaller basket is of circular form with a more open, coarse weave and a robust handle made of twisted wicker lengths. The handle of the smaller basket bears an orange rectangular adhesive label printed with the number 296 and a smaller white rectangular adhesive label printed with the number 2.
Condition report:
Both baskets are in good structural condition. Minor surface wear and occasional light scuffs to the wicker material are visible (photo 1). The larger basket exhibits light fraying to the edges of the gingham ribbons (photo 2). No significant breaks to the wicker are observed (photo 3).
