Lot 263: A Boxed Set of Gold Medal Brand Irish Damask Table Linens
A set of mid-20th century Irish damask table linens, comprising one tablecloth and four napkins. The white linens feature a woven damask pattern of repeated shamrocks. An adhesive paper label is attached to the linen, featuring a silver and green foliate border and reading GOLD MEDAL BRAND (photo 2). The label includes a central crest with a lion rampant and the words REGISTERED TRADE MARK, surrounded by depictions of prize medals. The linens are contained within a presentation box featuring a printed landscape illustration on the lid. The illustration bears the signature Theo J. Gracey in the lower-left corner (photo 3). The interior of the box lid shows a handwritten number 4 and an orange adhesive price sticker reading 263 (photo 1).
Condition report:
The linens appear to be in unused condition, retaining their original sharp press folds and an attached maker label (photo 1). No foxing, staining, or tears are visible on the exposed textile surfaces. The presentation box shows minor shelf wear, with light scuffing to the corners and edges, and some minor surface soiling to the lid (photo 3).
