Lot 260: Large Gilt Framed Rococo Revival Rectangular Wall Mirror
A large rectangular wall mirror housed in a heavily moulded frame with a bright gold coloured gilt finish. The frame is designed in the Rococo revival style, featuring elaborate scrolling foliate and floral motifs in high relief, complemented by a beaded inner border. The mirror plate is clear and provides a sharp reflection. A small white rectangular adhesive label is affixed to the upper left corner of the glass bearing the handwritten numbers 7 7, and an adjacent small circular orange adhesive label is also present. No manufacturer marks or country of origin labels are visible on the front of the mirror, and the reverse is not shown.
Condition report:
The mirror is in good overall condition with no visible faults to the glass plate, which appears free from foxing, clouding, or silvering loss (photo 1). The frame shows some minor surface dust and light wear to the gilt finish, particularly along the outer edges, consistent with handling and storage (photo 1). There are no apparent losses or chips to the moulded decoration.
