Lot 23: Vintage Leaded Slag Glass Wall Mounted Lantern with Wrought Iron Bracket
A wall mounted lantern featuring a multi panelled leaded glass body. The construction utilises traditional leaded glass techniques with textured green glass panels at the top and base, and larger central panels of textured clear glass with a subtle blue tint. The lantern is supported by a dark metal bracket, possibly wrought iron or steel, which incorporates a scroll motif and a flat, pointed backplate with a single mounting hole. One of the upper green glass panels bears a small rectangular orange adhesive label with the handwritten black digits 2 and 3. No other maker marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the glass or the metalwork. The lantern appears to be designed for exterior use, such as a porch or garden setting. It currently lacks internal electrical fittings or wiring.
Condition report:
The lantern is in used condition. The metal wall bracket shows significant surface corrosion and rust across the entirety of its surface (photo 1). The lead cames exhibit a whiteish oxidation bloom consistent with age and exposure. A diagonal line is visible on one of the upper green glass panels which appears to be a hairline crack (photo 1). General surface grime, dust, and adhesive residue from a previous label are present on the glass surfaces. The item is sold as a decorative object as the electrical components are missing.
