Lot 218: A Pair of Boxed Wallace and Gromit Themed Toys Including a West Wallaby Street Playhouse
A pair of Wallace and Gromit themed toys in their original retail packaging, based on characters from Aardman Animations. The first item is a plastic fold-out carry case playhouse housed in a large cardboard box. The box design features the characters Wallace and Gromit against a green and yellow striped background. The playhouse is modelled after the characters’ residence at West Wallaby Street and includes a red plastic carry handle protruding from the top. The front of the box bears the text Wallace and Gromit in red and black script, a street sign reading WEST WALLABY STREET in black block letters, and the word PLAYHOUSE in red block letters. A sign depicted on the playhouse reads WALLACE and GROMIT’S WASH ‘N’ GO WINDOW CLEANING SERVICE Telephone: 2143. Text at the bottom left reads CONTENTS: ONE CARRY CASE, ONE PLAY SCENE. Figures not included. The second item is a smaller cardboard box featuring an oval portrait of the characters. The text Wallace and Gromit appears in red and black script above the title A CLOSE SHAVE in blue block letters. Both boxes feature adhesive price or lot stickers: two white labels reading 2 2 are present on the top right of the playhouse box and the front of the smaller box, and one orange label reading 218 is affixed to the playhouse box. The smaller box appears to be sealed with clear adhesive tape.
Condition report:
Both items show signs of age and handling wear. The playhouse box exhibits significant shelf wear, including crushing and creasing to the corners and edges, and surface scuffing to the cardboard (photo 1). There is light yellowing or staining visible on the lighter sections of the packaging (photo 1). The smaller box shows corner wear and light creasing (photo 1). Both boxes have multiple adhesive labels affixed to their front surfaces (photo 1).
